Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau

Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau was founded in AD 1217, 800 years ago. A famous historian of Yuan Dynasty, Yuan Haowen, wrote in his Story of Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau: Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau dates from Dong Linlong. Long referred to master Zhilong, the Abbot of Shaolin of the time. Lator on, when master Fuyu took the position of Abbot of Shaolin, he advocated the principle of "with the traumatology department as the center, and internal department, department of pediatrics as supplements, we shall cure the dieseases of people and save people", enabling the pharmacy of Shaolin to see a flowering of creativity. In Ming Dynasty, relatively complete medical institute and medical system were established; Yizuo, the highest officer of monk docter was set; Pharmacy department (in the charge of gathering medicinal herbs and planting and proccesing of medicinal herbs) was set; Meanwhwile medicine school was set to educate specialized monk doctors.

In modern times, due to the declining of the nation, the affairs of the bureau suspended for a period. However, contemperory times is peaceful and prosperous, and so under the leadership of Abbot Shi Yongxin, Shaolin Temple resumed the organizatinal system of Shaolin Temple Bereau, and established Outpatient Department of Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau approved by state administrative authority on health. Now the Hospital of Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau is in preparation. At present, Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau is contacting with medical institutes and pharmaceutical enterprises at home and abroad, hoping that as a treasured medicine heritage of human, Shaolin medicine will serve the society better, and make due contribution for the health career of human.

So far, shaolin Temple gets started with a brand new look with the trinity of Chan-Sect-Kongfu-Medicine.
